          Reservation & Fares

          • What discounts apply for children/babies?
Bookings for children under the age of 2 years not occupying a seat get a 90% discount off the applicable adult fare. Children between the ages of 2 and 11 years generally receive a discount of 33% of the applicable adult fare and qualify for a seat.
Please note that there may be exceptions to this rule. Please confirm the airfare with your AIR NAMIBIA office or travel agent.

          • How can I travel more cost efficiently?
Watch these pages and the regular news media for special offers.

          • Why do different airfares apply for the same flight?
You may ask, how it is possible, that the person sitting next to you has paid a different fare than you? Airline Pricing policy includes offering special fares besides Business and Economy class full fares. These special fares are usually more restrictive than full fares in terms of rebooking and cancellations, as well as validity. Consequently complex and varied tariff structures exist for each route.

          • What conditions apply for special offers?
For special offers only a limited number of seats is usually made available, the earlier a booking is made the better is your chance to benefit from a special offer. Please note that some special offers require you to book for at least 2 months in advance. Special offers are only valid for return flights, bookings for one-way travel are subject to our normal price structure.

          • What cancellation penalties apply when I fall ill and cannot travel as planned?
The conditions of the fare prescribe the applicable cancellation fee. For some special offers we have a 100%cancellation fee, for these cases we encourage our customers to make use of a travel insurance.

          • Why are flights overbooked?

The result of constantly high load factors make it possible for us to provide you with a stable pricing structure and regular special offers.
The quota by which flights are overbooked are based on historical data and vary for each route.

          • Is it possible to book a seat when I book my flight?

              • Why do I need to fasten my seatbelt?
During takeoff and landing wearing of seatbelts is compulsory as in aviation any event, however unlikely has to be anticipated and prepared for. If the aircraft is about to enter turbulence the pilots will switch on the seatbelt lights. This is a precautionary measure and should be adhered to.

              • What are the different noises after take off and before landing?
The flaps and undercarriage in an aircraft are extended and retracted by strong and sometimes very noisy electric motors, you are also likely to hear a variety of other noises coming from generators, pumps and various other technical installations. It is equally likely that you are merely hearing the hissing of the coffee machine or the timer on the oven, indicating that the next meal is ready.

              • Are smaller, especially propeller driven aircraft, as safe as large aircraft?
The size of an aircraft is no indication of its safety. All aircraft systems their, maintenance and the training of the aircrews follow stringent standards set in the industry as a whole. If propeller aircraft are used on regional flights it is simply an indication that this type of aircraft is more suitable for such routes.

              • Why am I not allowed to use electronic equipment during the flight?

If you are uncertain whether you may use your device, be it a laptop for last minute changes to your presentation, or simply a CD player, kindly enquire from your flight attendant.

              • Why do I sometimes have to give up my hand luggage?
In some smaller aircraft used on domestic routes, the space in the cabin is limited. Any hand luggage that you do give up, will be returned to you immediately on your arrival at the aircraft.

              • Why do I need to stow my hand luggage?
Similarly to fastening your seatbelt at all times, it is recommended to stow any hand luggage, to avoid it tumbling, should the aircraft enter unexpected turbulence.
