Luanda
Angola’s largest city, located on the coast with the Atlantic Ocean, Luanda is both Angola’s seaport and administrative center. Luanda rated the most expensive city and fastest growing economy in the world, ahead of several Japanese and European cities. Petroleum is refined in Luanda, although this facility was repeatedly damaged during the Angolan Civil War. Luanda also has an excellent natural harbor, the chief exports are coffee, cotton, sugar, diamonds, iron and salt. The city has a thriving building industry, an effect of the nationwide economic boom experienced since 2002, when political stability returned at the end of the civil war.
