What is an LRT baggage tag?

A Limited Release Tag or LRT is a special type of baggage tag that is attached to non-standard pieces of luggage such as strollers and sporting equipment. This includes baggage, which is oversized, fragile, perishable, or unsuitably packed, bags presented damaged at check-in, security removed items and bags checked in late, which might not be loaded on the flight. LRTs releases the airline from liability should this item become damaged.
- How much luggage are children allowed to have?
Children between the ages of 2 – 12 years are entitled to the same free baggage allowance as adults, 20KG in Economy class and 30 KG to Business Class. Infants not occupying a seat are entitled to a free baggage allowance of 10KG. - What items are classified as dangerous goods?
For safety reasons the following articles are considered dangerous goods and may not be carried in checked baggage:
- Compressed gases such as butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen and aqualung cylinders.
- Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries.
- Explosives such as hand guns, ammunition, fireworks and pistol caps.
- Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners and firelighters.
- Radioactive materials.
- Briefcases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices.
- Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides.
- Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials.
- Other dangerous articles such as magnetized material and offensive or irritating materials.
